WATCHES & JEWELLERY

Authenticity

Every watch listed at Paddles is inspected prior to sale.

We don’t deal in replicas or knowingly misrepresented pieces. Watches are assessed based on our experience, reference materials, and direct inspection, including movement checks where possible.

Where it adds value, we show the movement.
We think you should see what you’re bidding on.

That said, Paddles is an auction house, not a manufacturer or authorised dealer. Watches are sold without brand warranties, which is standard for vintage and estate auctions.

Condition

Condition varies - and that’s part of the appeal.

Many pieces come from estates and private collections and show signs of wear, age or patina. We describe condition as clearly as possible and photograph watches honestly, without polishing things up for effect.

Some watches are sharp.
Some are softer around the edges.
Both can be good buys, depending on what you’re looking for.

If condition matters to you (and it should), we encourage you to:

  • Review all photos carefully

  • Read the description in full

  • Ask questions before bidding

Service History

Service history is listed where known.

In many cases - particularly with estate pieces - service records are unavailable. Unless otherwise stated, watches should be assumed to be unserviced and may require servicing after purchase to meet your personal standards of accuracy or wear.

We don’t guess.
If we don’t know, we say so.

What we don’t do

A quick word on auctions: All lots are sold as-is, which is standard auction practice. Bidding assumes you’ve reviewed the listing and are comfortable with the condition and information provided.

That’s how auctions work — and why good ones reward attention.

To keep expectations clear:

  • We don’t certify watches with third-party papers

  • We don’t guarantee timekeeping accuracy

  • We don’t polish or “improve” watches for sale

  • We don’t offer post-sale servicing

What you see is what you bid on.

Want more information?

That’s encouraged. We love talking about our pieces and sharing as much as we can.

If you’d like additional photos, movement details or clarification on a specific lot, get in touch before bidding and we’ll do our best to help.

Local inspection is also available for select auctions and will be noted in the auction listing, and on our socials.
